Velvet Sixty Nine
Velvet Sixty Nine started in 2010, we organize a party every 2-3 months in the center of Brussels. The first party was held in the famous Théâtre du Vaudeville in Galerie de la Reine and nowadays it happens at Claridge.
Who’s involved in it?
Carine De Mesmaeker is the owner, and we are about 25-30 people per party (bar staff, entrance, security, dj's etc...)
What’s your origin story and your motivation?
I have a long history in the lesbian nightlife in Brussels and was a DJ in a lot of the lesbian bars in the 80's and 90's. From 1999 till 2003 I was the owner of the Gate, a lesbian bar & nighclub in Rue du Fossé aux Loups.
Could you describe the accessibility of your space?
Our current location is wheelchair accessible and has one toilet on the groundfloor.
