Not Your Techno

Not Your Techno is a party series, community and platform that puts forward diverse and upcoming talent in electronic music, with a focus on female-identifying, queer and POC artists. On the dancefloor and beyond, we want people to be themselves, feel safe and share their passion for music.

Who’s involved in it?

Sara Dziri, resident at Kiosk Radio and Fuse club, founded the concept together with partner in crime Yasmine Dammak.

What’s your origin story and your motivation?

NYT had been on Sara's mind for quite while when she met Yasmine. They became besties, with a shared passion for electronic music and underground parties. Sara then asked Yasmine if she wanted to launch this party series (and so much more) together with her, and Yasmine gladly said yes. Today we are growing our baby further and diversifying our activities to talks and workshops next to parties.

Do you want to share a special memory with us?

January 31st, 2020. Our second party taking place at Kattenbak, a temporary underground location ran by Catclub. The atmosphere was just amazing: banging techno music, only happy people of literally all kinds (lesbian, gay, queer, trans, queer-friendly straight) walking around, a pink light shining through the foggy room, going on till 6AM. One of the last parties we had until this crisis, and definitely one to remember.

What are some of your favorite spots in Brussels?

Café Le Fontainas, Café Flora, Lagrange Points Bookstore and Café, les Marolles, Dansaert, Bozar, Passa Porta, Saint Gilles <3

Where can we find you virtually and/or physically?

Depends on where we're throwing the party (it changes a lot)
