Sing Out Brussels!

Sing Out Brussels! (The Fabulous Queer Choir) brings together friends with a passion for both music and freedom. Led by Emily Allison, we rehearse every Wednesday evening in an atmosphere marked by the joy of being together, pride in ourselves, and generosity of spirit.

Who’s involved in it?

Sing Out Brussels! is a non-profit organisation with 85 members, including 75 choristers. The members of our association represent the whole spectrum of the LGBTQI+ community and reflect the diversity of Brussels (23 different nationalities, 17 languages!)

What’s your origin story and your motivation?

Sing Out Brussels! was born in July 2018. The singers who founded the association came from the Tapalanote choir (Brussels Gay Sport choir) and were looking for independence in the management of their projects, a space of kindness where each identity is truly respected, and a qualitative and ambitious musical project.

Do you want to share a special memory with us?

There are so many good memories! Our show "Dance with Pride" in Uccle in June 2022 is certainly one of the best ! We were working on this show when the pandemic happened in 2020 and it was such a joy to show it to the public after two very difficult years for our choir (singing was forbidden due to the sanitary rules). It was a strong show with an powerful message about the history of the Brussels LGBTQI+ community through dance.

What are some of your favorite spots in Brussels?

We love The Agenda, an inclusive bar and a nice sphere to party. The afterparty after our show in June took place there.

Could you describe the accessibility of your space?

Our rehearsals take place at GC Elzenhof, a flemish cultural center in Ixelles. We rent a room there, we don't manage the venue. There's is a lift with accessible toilets upstairs; The building is accessible. There are chairs withour armrests. Close to public transports but no parking.

Where can we find you virtually and/or physically?

We rehearse each Wednesday evening from 19h until 22h at GC Elzenhof, Avenue de la Couronne 12, 1050 Bruxelles. NB : Our rehearsals are not open to the public.
