Ca 1980's
Le Madam Club was a lesbian bar that opened on 12.11.1981 and lasted for about two years. It was said to be a little more ’chic’ than the other lesbian bars, was a popular cruising spot and had a tightly packed program of DJ’s. The singer/songwriter BJ Scott started her career here, and worked both as a DJ and a solo performer.
In the 1981 agenda from the Dutch organisation GAIA it says:
MADAM; Elegant disco bar with truly terrific music – it’s acoustically perfect with plenty of room for dancing (sprung aluminum dance floor) + tables for sitting and talking, also ’dark area’. Waitress service, friendly people. Opens 10pm – late, late, late.
